When the Forest Calls

A logger’s daughter, transformed by a mysterious fog while protesting the planned felling of a forest’s last remaining heartwood tree, seeks the forest’s vengeance—and her own—leaving a trail of disappearing townsfolk in her wake.

“Incredibly imaginative, lovely and harrowing, with a fascinating world and mythos packed into a powerful tale.”

— KC Grifant, author of the Monster Gunslinger series

“This is a powerful tale of women, nature and magic.”

— David Quantick, Emmy Award-winning writer on Veep and author of The Hyena

“When the Forest Calls is a beautifully imagined eco-fairy tale, steeped in darkness and magic. Newbould delivers a haunting cautionary tale that reads like a whispered warning from the ancient forest itself.”

— Red Lagoe, author of Bloodstains by Gaslight & In Excess of Dark

“A fierce fairytale of feminine rage, revenge, and reparations. Heart wrenching, atmospheric, and packs a wildly satisfying punch.”

— Katrina Carruth, horror author
