Stars and Sabers Publishing is the brainchild of speculative fiction authors and publishers Jendia Gammon and Gareth L. Powell. We have made it our mission to champion and celebrate human creativity, and bring you original and powerful stories from new and established writers across a wide array of genres.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Jendia Gammon
Jendia Gammon is a Nebula and BSFA Awards finalist author of fantasy, science fiction, and horror novels and short stories. She became a finalist for a 2024 Nebula Award (for The Inn at the Amethyst Lantern, as J. Dianne Dotson) and two 2024 BSFA Awards (as both Jendia Gammon and J. Dianne Dotson). She was also longlisted for the Lodestar Award and for two British Fantasy Awards. Jendia writes compelling characters within rich world-building. Jendia’s campy horror novel, Doomflower, publishes in April 8, 2025 via Encyclopocalypse Publications. Her first thriller novel, with horror and sci-fi elements, Atacama, publishes May 13, 2025, via Sley House Publishing. She has eight books arriving in 2025 and beyond.
Associate EDITOR
Gareth L. Powell
Gareth L. Powell writes across multiple genres, including science fiction, horror and thriller, and his books feature relatable characters in extraordinary situations. He is the author of 20 published books, and is probably best known for The Embers of War trilogy, The Continuance Series, The Ack-Ack Macaque trilogy, Light Chaser (written with Peter F. Hamilton), and About Writing, his guide for aspiring authors. He has twice won the British Science Fiction Association Award for Best Novel and has been a finalist for the Locus Award, the British Fantasy Award, the Seiun Award, and the Canopus Award.
EDITORial Assistant
Helen Glynn Jones
Helen Glynn Jones is an author, social media manager, former bookseller, and editing maven. She specializes in speculative fiction as well as romance books. As an author, Helen made her traditional debut in 2024 with the novel, The Last Raven, publishing via One More Chapter/HarperCollins. Helen has written six independently-published novels, and has had short stories in several publications and anthologies. She has lived in both Canada and Australia, but is now settled in her native UK with her family.

Scarlett R. Algee
Scarlett R. Algee is an editor and author. Her fiction has been published by Body Parts Magazine, Sanitarium, Bards and Sages Quarterly, and The Wicked Library, among other places. Her short story “Dark Music,” written for the podcast The Lift, was a 2016 Parsec Awards finalist, and her flash-fiction piece “Bone Deep” was a 2020 Pushcart Prize nominee. She is also the managing editor for JournalStone Publishing and its Trepidatio Publishing imprint.
Associate Editor
KC Grifant
KC Grifant is an award-winning Southern Californian author who writes speculative stories in the horror, fantasy, sci-fi and weird west genres. She authored the award-winning supernatural western Monster Gunslinger series and Shrouded Horror: Tales of the Uncanny. She is editor of Women of the Weird West, and co-editor of Dread Coast: SoCal Horror Tales and Of Terrors and Tombstones. She has publications in dozens of podcasts, magazines and Stoker-nominated anthologies. She teaches genre and short story workshops and has been a moderator, panelist or speaker at dozens of conferences and events. She is co-founder and co-chair of the Horror Writers Association San Diego Chapter and a Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association mentor. Aside from constructing imaginary worlds, she works as an award-winning science communicator and tries to keep up with two small wildlings.

Editorial Assistant
Dennis K. Crosby
Dennis K. Crosby is an author, editor, speaker, and workshop leader with an MFA in Creative Writing. Since 2020 he has published three urban fantasy novels in his award-winning Kassidy Simmons series, and sixteen short stories found in multiple anthologies. He is the co-editor of Dread Coast: SoCal Horror Tales and has been a panelist and moderator at multiple conventions including, WonderCon, Comic-Con International, Nebula, Bouchercon, and StokerCon 2024, where he also served as Co-Chair. In March 2025 he was awarded the Jonathan Maberry Inspiring Teens Award from the Creative Writing Club at Canyon Crest Academy. Dennis lives in San Diego, CA. where he is secretary of the local chapter of the Horror Writers Association, a member of Crime Writers of Color, and board member of Partners in Crime, the local chapter of Sisters in Crime.

We are not currently open to unsolicited submissions. We will reopen in 2026 to agented authors.
